Northway is an Athabascan village of 300 people in the interior of Alaska. There are very few year-round occupations in this region of the state that earn a dollar-based income. Therefore, inhabitants engage in a subsistence lifestyle that is based upon hunting and fishing. I was awarded a grant from the Alaska School District to create a photography program, and build a darkroom in their only school.
